Recognising that the employment laws can cause anxiety and stress to human resource practitioners, this book is written with the aim to provide a clear and concise approach for readers to understand the key areas of employment law. It describes in detail the relevant legislation including the Employment Insurance System Act 2017 and provides illustrative examples of the application of these laws. Summaries of relevant cases from the Industrial Court, and also from the superior courts, are provided to illustrate the principles in each chapter.
This book highlights, among others, the role of human resource practitioners in implementing employment law at the workplace, major areas of concern that practitioners face when managing employees, the importance of following accepted procedures when termination of an employee’s contract becomes necessary and the rights of employees to join a trade union.
